The Sim4Blocks project got under way at a successful kick-off meeting held HFT in Stuttgart on April 4-5. HFT is the coordinating partner and the meeting was attended by representatives of all 17 partners. Each Work Package leader presented an overview of the work due to take place and discussion centred on how each would fit into delivering the overall objective of the project.

Discussion also centred on how the project will improve on the state of the art, in areas such as classifying the different blocks and calibrating R-C models amongst other things. The three pilot sites, in Spain, Switzerland and German, were also discussed in detail, with concrete planning already under way to ensure the Sim4Blocks systems are tried and tested to ensure they are replicable and reliable.

Partners were also given the opportunity to visit the pilot site in Wüstenrot, close to the city of Stuttgart, where a number of energy-saving initiatives have already taken place.
